  • This mortgage company, and specifically, broker Pina, was referred to my mom -- an elderly woman with early onset dementia -- by her own predatory lawyers. They made a lot of money off her by facilitating a second and third mortgage she couldn't afford.

    The broker from this firm made not one, but two separate broker fees off her because they helped her secure a second mortgage, and then that mortgage was increased (effectively like applying for a third mortgage).

    She was retired and disabled had a CHIP Reverse mortgage as her first mortgage. What sane person would think she could afford a second and third mortgage?

    Did anyone here stop to think that:

    1. She can't afford this transaction.
    2. Her competency or capacity might be diminished.
    3. Request for a competent family member or power of attorney to help with these transactions.
    4. I don't know... ask for anything reasonable?

    Well, this company helped her remortgage what was left of her equity. When she couldn't pay, she was evicted and was basically broke and homeless.

    I'm really surprised to see that they have such a high rating. If I could give zero stars, I would.
